5TH URAL INDUSTRIAL BIENNALE OF CONTEMPORARY ART

The 2nd Apartment Industrial Biennial

The apartment of artists Nikolay Isaev and Lukia Murina, Tomsk. Exhibition maquette: Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant, 2 floor, archive lounge (33B Vostochnaya St., Ekaterinburg)
September 12 – December 1, 2019

An exhibition in the apartment of the artist-collectors was devised in 2017, and the Apartment Industrial Biennial organically continues their work of researching, collecting, and exhibiting works of contemporary and Soviet-era art. Part of the exhibition comprises works from the collection that have already become artifacts of the Soviet era. The exhibition’s central place is devoted to works of contemporary artists whose creative interests are tied to the subject of the industrial landscape. At its core the Apartment Industrial Biennial is a site-specific project and cannot exist outside of the apartment, which is why the exhibition at the Ural Biennial in Ekaterinburg features a miniature maquette of the exhibition in the form of a “white gallery cube.”
